A Year of Good for the Child in Need
There are over 54 million orphans worldwide and an estimated 300,000 children in Houston sleeping on the floor. Everyday children suffer at no fault of their own, and our mission is to bring light and hope into their lives. Check out what our 2017 was about and see how to get involved in the upcoming events of 2018!
Play With Purpose Sports continued to use their talents to raise money for children in need! Night out with the Rockets was a huge success with nearly 200 rockets fans in attendance to create awareness for children in need.
We had our second campaign for Coreluv and raised $10,000 which was matched and resulted in a $20,000 donation to help orphans in Haiti!
Play With Purpose Sports was proud to host our first annual “Rise Up” Basketball camp to create leaders who help children in need!
Houston was devastated when Hurricane Harvey affected so many families and homes. Our athletes fed over 200 people that flooded and hosted a clothing drive!
We partnered up with “Love is Here” for the second time to give out over 1400 pairs of shoes to people staying in the Greenspoint mall as a shelter after Harvey.
Play with Purpose Sports closed out the year by providing gift baskets to children fighting cancer at Texas Children Hospital of Houston. Each basket included toys, itunes gift cards, activity books and crayons, and inspirational notes from each athlete.
Restoration Initiative partnered with Orphan Care Solutions of Texas and those in the community and furniture industry to help furnish homes for foster families that lost everything in Hurricane Harvey. To date we have assisted 10 families and furnished 4 complete homes. We have 5 more scheduled in January of 2018!
Project 828s program Restoration Initiative assisted 80 families and counting in basic furnishings needs through our partnerships with Houston Furniture Bank, FEMA, and #211.
We ended the year with the Treehouse home for girls to read more about this project click here.
